Gwendolyn Magras, Owner-Operator

Hi! My name is Gwendolyn, and I've been a homeschooling mom for ten years now. I'm passionate about alternative education, social justice, science, art and books! In my free time, I love reading, writing, painting, creating and listening to music, running, dancing, and finding new service projects. I also love sharing our experiences and great homeschool resources with others! My husband and I share four kids ages 14, 13, 10, and 9 ( and one fur-kid, AKA our homeschool mascot, Ellis). We made the decision to homeschool our children while my husband was serving in the military, and we have continued to do so for the majority of the time that he has been out. Our family has homeschooled in four states: North Carolina, Alaska, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Alaska was, hands-down, our favorite state for home education (it's also my favorite place on this planet so far... SO beautiful!). Now that we are settled in MD, we're working on finding our footing here and building our community, which is a big part of why we chose to start this business.

The Hub City Homeschool Resource Mission

As longtime homeschooling parents ourselves, we understand the need for quality, reasonably priced educational materials and enrichment opportunities.

When it is safe to do so, we plan to provide regular supplemental instruction in a variety of content areas. Whatever your homeschooling style, we hope our products, programs and events will enhance the experience.

Post-COVID, we plan to offer unstructured open workshop hours to allow children to explore their interests independently. We'll also plan regular social events that will serve as fun opportunities for local homeschoolers to establish friendships. Additionally, we will provide opportunities to serve the community with us through various family-friendly service projects.

Technology Class

We believe in self-directed education, nurturing a child's natural curiosity, and preserving the joy and magic of learning. A homeschool-family-owned and operated business, our ultimate goal is to provide an inspiring environment where homeschoolers can learn, play, grow, and give back, together.  Our space is and always will be a secular, inclusive, welcoming  place for the whole family.

If you're a local homeschooler, join our new Facebook group! We'd love to stay connected. The group is for homeschool families in the Hagerstown area that want to stay in the loop with Hub City Homeschool Resource. We will post homeschooling tips, host discussions, and answer questions. Group members will also get a first look at new products, and enjoy first dibs on pre-orders and workshop registrations (once it is safe to meet up again). Happy homeschooling!
